Not wanting to be just a club that managed derbies, the members branched out in search of ways to assist the fishery and provide community service to the Coeur d'Alene area. Members of the LCAA assisted the Idaho Fish and Game Department by clipping the fins of hatchery fish and coming up with options to increase the survival rate of fished released into the Lake by the Fish and Game Department. Members of the LCAA also feel strongly about the natural spawning salmon and the need to preserve those spawning beds and maintain red counts. Presently the LCAA is concerned about the low numbers of Kokanee and Chinook and are communicating with the Fish and Game about what we are seeing as we fish the Coeur d'Alene area waters. We are in support of some regulation changes that would be beneficial to the Kokanee and Chinook.
Our club members number around 350. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at the Hot Rod Café in Post Falls, ID. Those that want to eat prior to the meeting show up around 6:00 and the formal meeting begins around 7:00. New ideas are very welcome! We hope that members will become excited about participating in giving the club a hand with its various activities and events.
